SRM vs STM (Profiler)

We are a long time user to Storage Manager (Profiler) and I recently been researching and found we have access to SRM as well. I am wanting re-architect the installation and wondering the best direction to go. Right now we monitor VMAX3, VNX, ISILON, vCenter 6 as well as physical systems. From what I have gathered, SRM is the newest and where most development is going and STM is legacy. Should we start over and use SRM instead of STM or will we need to run both. Any help is appreciated.

The answer depends on what other Orion modules you have. Unlike STM/Profiler, SRM Orion module doesn't monitor virtualization or physical servers. If you have VMAN and e.g. SAM, you should be OK.
The other option is to use both Profiler and SRM Orion at the same time.

I appreciate the response. Right now, we are just licensed for Profiler and SRM Modules. We don't have the VMAN or SAM. It sounds like we can use SRM to monitor our Storage arrays and then use STM/Profiler for our Virtualization and Physical servers. Does this sound about right?

csblakely have you tried VMAN yet? It's a great product, laser focussed on virtualisation management. You can download a free trial and give it a go, you may find you prefer it over using Profiler, as it'll give you a lot more information on your hypervisor estate

To clarify, it seems like AppStack can't see from the Application layer all the way down to the LUN level with both VMAN and SAM (Orion) installed. Is this an expected behavior or have I missed something along the way? Do I need to run profiler as well?
