Drive pace WARNING monitor..Is it possible

Is it possible to create a monitor where a device will turn YELLOW (warning) if a drive space threshold passes 85%?  I have monitors that provide DOWN status if the monitor passes 90%.  I'd just like the server in my NOC view to go yellow if a monitor hits one threshold and RED if it hits another threshold.

  • Hello StipMan,

This is not possible.  Yellow is a Warn state, which means the Monitor is failing but no Alerts have been triggered yet.  Red is a Down state, which means the Monitor is failing and Alerts are being triggered.  Alerts are triggered based on the Monitor's "Accumulated Failures per Alert" value.  If this value is set to 1, the Warn state will be bypassed and the Monitor will go from Green to Red.

Although I realize that this does not help achieve what you are looking for, I thought it would be good to know the meaning behind the colors (states).

  • You can create more than one monitor for the same resource with different thresholds.

Create the "warning" monitor with a high "accumulated failures per alert" and 0 alert. Or have that one only alert the other team. Or maybe a long delay between tests during the warning state.

  • Ooops...didn't notice the date on the original post. Sorry for the necro...

  • That did the trick!

    Thanks much for the response
