Generating Child Tickets Using Auto Rules

I would like to set up an auto rule that will automatically create a child ticket for a task element when a specific request type is selected and a custom single option field on the ticket is selected.  I've created the action rule and criteria, but don't know how to tell the action to create a child ticket?  Can this be done?  If so, how?

Thanks

Steve

  • Child tickets are created by Tasks. Therefore you need to create a task configured to create a ticket you like and then run this task as an action from action rule.

  • To add on this, you can then populate information from the Parent ticket down to the child ticket.  You do this inside the Task Elements.  So basically you setup an action rule based on your criteria or if a certain value is inside a custom field.  The action rule then runs a task. The task can then create tickets.  Hope that helps.
