12.7.1 GA Bug: Request Detail truncating words

Bug:  The request detail screen is truncating words across a set width of frame instead of properly formatting them to the next line.  (See screenshot):

Workaround: If you edit the Column Set and remove "Display Full Text in Request and Notes" the system will display the text as a single line with a ",,," to indicate further content.bshopp

  • Hi again.  It turns out this bug is also happening for tickets as well for the ticket details.  This is pervasive.  We need an update.  Also, it appears that having the "Latest Notes" set to value of >1 results in this issue occuring on the Request Detail column regardless of the checkbox, so I think that might be where the extra " ' " is hiding. @bshopp

  • any progress on this? We are holding back on the upgrade to 12.7.1 until this if fixed.

  • Was just in the support portal opening a case and noticed they have a hotfix for 12.7.1 looks like this is addressed if you have a test instance may want to give it a go:

  • Yep, Brandon sent me an email directly. I’ve applied the patch and already reported back to him. The bug referenced in this thread is resolved. The other issue is partially resolved, but still has some issues with implementation. Feedback has been provided to Brandon directly.

  • Did you have an issue where the files in the download were encrypted? I did and could not figure out why the services would not start after replacing the three affected files.

    I created a case to see if that is an error or by design but not documented in the install instructions.

  • No, no issues at all.  The update process was sent to me in an email directly from Brandon though, which is the method I used for installing:

    SolarWinds Web Help Desk 12.7.1.538 Hot Fix (WHD-3817 and WHD-3816)

    This hot fix resolves the following issues:

    * Word wrapping in the ticket Request Detail field
    * Client UI search based on the request detail does not return a result


    NOTE: Upgrading Web Help Desk with this hot fix installed is not supported.

    This hot fix modifies the following files in the
    <WebHelpDesk>/bin/webapps/helpdesk/WEB-INF/lib/ directory:

    * whd-persistence.jar
    * whd-core.jar

    This hot fix also modifies the following file in the
    <WebHelpDesk>/bin/webapps/helpdesk/css directory:

    * whdStyles.css

    This hot fix requires Web Help Desk 12.7.1 Build 12.7.1.538.

    NOTE: In the installation instructions, <WebHelpDesk> represents the Web
    Help Desk home folder. The default home folders for the supported operating systems are listed below:

    - Apple OS X: /Library/WebHelpDesk
    - Microsoft Windows: \Program Files\WebHelpDesk

    INSTALL THIS HOT FIX

    1. Stop SolarWinds Web Help Desk.

    2. Navigate to the following directory:

    3. Back up the following file to a separate directory:

    - whd-persistence.jar
    - whd-core.jar

    4. Copy the following files included with this hot fix to the /lib
    directory, overwriting the existing file:

    - whd-persistence.jar
    - whd-core.jar

    5. Navigate to the following directory:

    <WebHelpDesk>/bin/webapps/helpdesk/css

    6. Back up the following file to a separate directory:

    - whdStyles.css

    7. Copy the files included with this hot fix to the /css directory,

    overwriting the existing file:

    - whdStyles.css

    8. Start Web Help Desk.

    The hot fix is installed.

    UNINSTALL THIS HOT FIX


    1. Stop SolarWinds Web Help Desk.

    2. Navigate to the following directory:

    3. Copy the following backup files to the /lib directory, overwriting the
    existing files:

    - whd-persistence.jar
    - whd-core.jar

    4. Navigate to the following directory:

    <WebHelpDesk>/bin/webapps/helpdesk/css

    5. Copy the following backup file to the /lib directory, overwriting the
    existing file:

    - whdStyles.css

    6. Start Web Help Desk.

    The hot fix is uninstalled.
