SEUM playback - recommended settings for Windows processor scheduling and memory usage

We are running our playbacks on Windows Server hosts, either 2003R2 or 2008R2.  Since SEUM playback uses local users to run IE sessions, should we change the default setting of "Background services" (for Processor scheduling) to "Programs"?  Likewise, should we adjust memory allocation to favor Programs over System Cache?  I'm not sure how much difference it would make in the execution time of a transaction, but it seems like the Server and Workstation tuning of the OS would play some role.

  • Actually the default windows settings should be sufficient for SeUM since all processes are executed in the background. This windows setting define preference for the foreground desktop vs background applications based on window focus of the consoled user. As for system cache vs applications, this is somewhat debatable. If the machine is doing nothing other than functioning as a SeUM player server, then a valid argument could be made for changing this setting from system cache to applications. But I doubt you will see much, if any performance improvement from this setting change.
