Reset Password Self Service tied to Active Directory

Self Service Password Reset to enable users to reset their Active Directory passwords themselves so they don't have to open up a Web Help Desk ticket or call Tech Support.

It will save a lot of Tech Staff's time changing passwords.

    Hi typhoon87,

    Thanks for the question.

I am asking for an Add-on Module to be accessed at the WHD portal to allow a user to the do the following:

    1) Rest their Domain password

    2) Unlock their Domain Account

    3) Utilize a Two-Factor Authentication such as Text and/or Security Questions and/or Secondary Email. The latter item may be a security issue for some companies or industries.

    4) Popup expiry notification, if possible, that alerts the user their password is about to expire as stipulated in the AD Group Policy or polices set within the Add-on module. Windows 7 only has a small notification and most users don't notice it. Windows XP was in your face with the warning. What's up Microsoft???

This alleviates a good chunk of support tickets and time ($) consumed by both Tech Support staff and Users.

Other Help Desk Ticketing systems have this as an add-on feature (SysAid, Track-it etc). Therefore, it should not be that difficult for a major vendor like Solarwinds to incorporate in WHD.

Hope this clarifies the request and I would appreciate your vote.

    Thank you

  • Are you stating this should integrate with 3rd party self service password products or WHD should be able to do this natively?  If you are asking for native support this sounds like something that could be a crazy amount of feature creep from a ticketing system. I am holding off voting until this gets clarified.
