Does IE11 work correctly with WHD?

I ask because I know real good browsers (firefox, chrome) work great with WHD, but IE and WHD seem to not mix at all. Between being unable to open certain office attachments in IE using https, and the overall look and feel of WHD (for techs, not users) it seems like WHD doesn't have as good a support for IE than everything else.

  • I have used IE 11 on my Win 8.1 laptop and it seems to be fine with WHD. I also use IE 10 as my daily driver and have a window open pretty much all day every day and do not see an issue.

If you are still using IE 8 on the other hand best of luck to you.

No IE8, just IE10 or 11. It just doesn't seem as seamless for me than using anything else.

Are you using IE + WHD through https?

  • I do use it occasionally from IE through https when I am at home and it seems fine.

I agree it seems better on chrome, plus the right click menu is nice. I read somewhere that WHD was designed for Mac users so that probably has something to do with it emoticons_happy.png

Can you open office attachments through https in IE?

    Specifically .docx and/or .xslx files?

  • I have not had any issues with Office files in IE.

And to fcpsolaradmin's note this whole system was originally designed for Mac users. In fact the original company that wrote the software was called Macs Design Studio and it was written in a noe unsupported framework made by Apple called Web Objects that runs in Java. In 12.2 Solarwinds took the first step and started the huge task of migrating to a newer framework called Spring when they rewrote the admin side of the FAQ section.

I knew all that beforehand, but there's been a lot a strange things goings on with WHD and IE for us. I think things will get better, but for now...

And I get some kind of 'right click' with IE, to add notes, save & email a ticket. That's kinda nice.

  • I'm having difficulty opening office files, but it isn't consistent across users?  For me some documents will open with no problem and others the document is in a language of letters, symbols and numbers.

I don't have that problem specifically, our issue is that certain office files prompt for credentials before opening through IE (10 and 11). And another popup window shows up with the download URL. Then it doesn't later on.

    Weird stuff...

Now I've realized our issue revolves around Office 2010 and IE not playing nice nice with attachments in WHD.emoticons_plain.png
