Asset "Retired"

Jump to solution

We are primarily using WebHelpDesk as a ticket tracking tool, but are wanting to leverage the asset tracking features as well. However, as I was looking at the Asset Statuses, I saw that each could be marked as "Retired", but no clear indication from within the system what that actually meant.

Does anyone know what a status type marked as "Retired" does (differently from not marked as Retired)? We were hoping that it would at least be a search criteria where we could filter out assets that are kept in inventory for historical purposes, but where the device is retired from service.

When an asset assigned to an asset status type marked retired, it does not appear in the list of assets that appears when a client is submitting a ticket.

You can query by Asset Status using the Advanced Search tab.

Yes, but that is only by the status, not the "Is Retired" setting on each status.  For example say we have these four statuses Deployed, Available, Defective, Recycled. For the Defective and Recycled statuses we set the "Is Retired" setting to true. It seems odd that there would be a flag here to set a status as "retired" but then not build any functionality for it or way for a user to utilize it.

Does anyone know of any way to use the "Is Retired" setting functionally?
