We are trying to do some right sizing in our VMware environment. I know we are over allocating Memory on many VM's, but I cannot get the VM sprawl or recommendations page to display VM's that can be reduced on Memory allocation. Does anyone have any tips or best practices for this? What performance metric does VMAN actually take into account for right sizing?
Something that might be helpful if you are not seeing recommendations triggered the way you would expect in your environment is to verify the thresholds are appropriately tuned for your needs. Below is a link describing how to do that as well as some general docs about recommendations.
Unfortunately we have gone over all those thresholds, and after analyzing specific VM's manually we have determined they should be good candidates for Memory reclamation. However we cannot get the VMAN feature to display any recommendations as we'd expect
