Free Tools: VM Monitor and ESXi 5.5

The free "VM Monitor for VMware ESX Server 3.5, 4.0, and 4.1" works quite well, right through version 5.1.

With ESXi 5.5 however, it's got some issues with the VMware vCenter Appliance, detecting one running instance of it, it multiple times, with differing amounts of memory for each. Exiting and restarting VM Montitor is a workaround, and it then displays running VMs correctly.

Any chance you have a date in mind for a new release, or was the end of the development for this free product?

Thank you!

Hi pbraren, We don't have plans at this moment for a release to fix it. But if we do have a release in the near future, this would be looked at. Thanks Cliton Godinho

Amazingly, VM Monitor 1.1.0 still works today, right on up through ESXi 6.0 Update 1a! Updated my article here:

Beware, if you set an invalid userid/password, ESXi will act strange on you, as somebody knocking on the door with invalid credentials, over and over, is apt to do. Learned that one the hard way 😉
