UDT Evaluation inquiry

My network is operating normally but from UDT console we are seeing a lot of  "packet losses" and "high response time" messages.  We use SNMP to monitor the network devices.  These alerts are consistent on a particular network switch - 3Com S4500G switch.  Are there anything that I need to look at e.g. fine tuning?

Thanks!

  • If you have a specific device that is dropping ICMP packets on a regular basis then there isn't really much fine tuning on the orion side, you are just gaining new visibility into an aspect of your network devices that you may not have been aware of.  Normally switches drop ICMP when they are loaded down, but there could also be a bug in the hardware.  If you wanted to try to validate the data you can try running continuous ping from the orion server (or maybe another device that would be on the same subnet or allowed through all the same acl's/firewalls as your Orion server).
