Hi Folks,
I want to know how to move the nodes of the unknown vendor in different vendor group (like VMware, Solaris, net-SNMP like that )without data loss (data loss means CPU, memory, or tickets etc).
Hi,
You will only lose previously collected data when changing the polling method like SNMP --> WMI etc.
"Unknown" usually means that a node couldnt be identified at all and is just polled for availability via ICMP. Check for wrong credentials first.
If you are just after the visual appearance in the list of nodes, you can fix the grouping easily if you change the way you sort it via "Edit" (quick&dirty), or implement a concept of custom properties which you can use for sorting and other things (smart&elegant).

Sascha,
Thanks for your response. As I checked sometimes when we add the nodes it get assigned to unknown vendor but when we add the same nodes manually it use to assigne correctly to respective vendor.
Hi,
I had a similar question; "How Can I Assign I Vendor or Machine Type to the HSRP IP Address that is just being Polled?"

Within this SolarWinds Success Centre Information you will see that this can be done by editing the NodesData via the SolarWinds Database Manger.
This Link no longer shows this information.
There are a lot of broken links out there right now, but the articles are there if one pokes around.
Here's the one on updating ICMP vendors.
