  1. What industry is your company in? Industrial Manufacturing
  2. How large is your IT shop? (Small (1-250 elements); Medium (251 – 2000 elements); Large (2001 to 10000 elements); Extra-large (greater than 10,000 elements) Our IT is a medium shop
  3. Which SolarWinds product are you writing this review for? This review is based on NCM and NPM
  4. What problem were you trying to solve when you purchased?  We had an abundance of network nodes that were not being monitored and did not have a centralized place for SNMP traps.  We had no idea when a network switch was having issues or an ISP was down.
  5. Did you consider options other than SolarWinds? Who? Actually Solarwinds was the first stop as we have used smaller products like Dameware Mini Remote Control.  So ideally we wanted to look for something along the same company.
  6. How are you using the product and what benefits have you seen?  We are using NPM to monitor network traffic and all of our network nodes.  If there is an outage NPM alerts us as soon as the outage happens so that we can get the problem fixed ASAP.  We use NCM to push configurations to network switches and backup current configurations in the event of equipment failure.  There is a lot more that can be done with these two pieces of software and there are plans to delve further into them.  But right now that's what we are using them for.
