Nowadays groups in Orion are mainly for grouping nodes in the Webinterface and not for grouping nodes logical at database level.
So for example it's not possible to limit alerts on nodes which are members of a group, create dynamic queries for groups which contain subgroup and so on.
It would be nice if group will be better implemented, more like a real entity.
