SAM is plagued with the difficulty or utilizing WMI only for some items (such as Hyper-V) and SNMP only for some items (such as Dell OpenManage for hardware - not their fault, Dell doesn't support WMI).
It's been suggested to subdivide polling assignments on the same node - but another suggestion with perhaps lower complexity would presumably not require significant changes in the SAM programming itself.
With the SAM Agent running locally on servers, there are a number of different plug-ins for different items - it would seem plausible that we could simply have an additional or selectable plug-in for hardware health via SNMP or IPMI rather than the default WMI methodology - allowing the agent to collect data locally and export back to SAM ending up with a node such as a Hyper-V host with HyperV statistics via WMI, but on Dell hardware with hardware health statistics via local SNMP or IPMI gathering.
