I'm suggesting that products supported be parallel across the SolarWinds platforms.
I discovered today that while SRM supports the Equalogic PS series devices - and is touted as supported by SolarWinds - SRM itself has no ability to monitor the actual physical hardware of said devices.
Thinking that it must simply be contained in another product, I spoke with SolarWinds Support who indicated that SRM does not monitor hardware and SAM and NPM have no built-in support for the hardware monitoring of such devices. The data is available in the MIB and the OIDs exist for the needed data, so of course one can set up custom hardware polling for an Equalogic PS series devices - however, besides this being a pain in the ass, it seems deeply disingenuous for SolarWinds to state that they support monitoring the Equalogic PS Series devices and point at SRM when in reality this leaves a huge gap unmonitored between the SolarWinds product lines.
It seems to me that if the product is supported else where, then items like hardware health (or anything else available through SNMP) should be incorporated into one of the other product lines for a full monitoring solution for that product.
