Ability to Disable Certain AppInsight Components

Ability to Disable Certain AppInsight Components

AppInsight is amazing!  That being said, we would like the ability to disable certain components.  Depending on your organization, there are certain things that you don't care about or certain things that may always be flagging as critical or down.  It would help us out if we were able to disable them rather than always showing as down.

Thanks,

What items in particular are you wanting to disable?

Level 13

I should have been more specific, I see that.  Particularly the powershell components which are spitting out several different things.  It would be nice if we could disable some of those. I know that is not how Powershell works, but if we were able to edit the script as in other applications we could remove the parts that we don't want to be returned.  I wanted it to be vague though in cases where it did not just apply to Powershell.

My SQL DBA has asked for the same thing. I really like the AppInsight for SQL and the new one for Exchange, but each organization is different...and we all need the ability to fine tune the components for our individual environments.

Consideration is much appreciated.

HI.

On AppInsight for Exchange it will be greate if this can be disabled:

* Replication Status

* Or more in general, the "Custome PowerShell Monitor" and "Custom Performance Counter Monitor"

On AppInsight for SQL:

*SQL Table Monitor"

Another use case would be disabling the users by components in AppInsight for Exchange.  We have noticed those queries are heavy hitters on the Exchange servers, and the Exchange team has another application that they are getting that information from so they would like to disable it in order to alleviate some of the load caused by that polling.

Thanks,

Disabling the collection of user mailbox data in AppInsight for Exchange is already possible today.

Thanks, Alterego!  I overlooked it.  Not having a description, I could not be sure it would get all of the correct statistics either.

(late entry, but...)

ANY component should have the option to be disabled.

I ran into this today actually.

not supported and always back your DB up

select * --top 10 *

from APM_Component

where ApplicationID=891

and (Name = 'Shrink Space' or Name = 'Total Size: Percent Change 24 Hrs (EPR)')

-- select top 10 * from APM_Component

update

APM_Component

set IsDisabled=1

where ApplicationID=891

and (Name = 'Shrink Space' or Name = 'Total Size: Percent Change 24 Hrs (EPR)')
