Any reason for attempted traffic on ports 6666-6669?

I am using Serv-U 6.4.0.6. My antivirus log shows it is blocking occasional attempts from Serv-U to communicate on ports 6666-6669 (outgoing). This is suspicious because those ports are often used by malware. Is this behavior normal?

Most recently, it has been trying to reach 76.8.210.66 and 70.99.186.222 on those ports.

This behaviour is NOT normal.
It indicates:
- the installer of this old version was downloaded from a questionable/untrustworthy source and was bundled with malware
or
- one of the several vulnerabilites of an older version was exploited

Actions you should take:
- disconnect the system from the network, clean it or even better: set it up from a known clean backup or perform a new installation and keep it updated
- please do not download software from questionably sources - or - don't use outdated versions known to be vulnerable
