API to Manage Serv-U

Our in-house application has a built in system for managing our clients' users.  It would be nice if Serv-U had an API so we could just create/delete/manage accounts from our system.  Unfortunately, we cannot use LDAP/AD since we have a custom built auth service.

  • +Vote for API - This is a real deal killer. We have to manually do too many tasks to manage and maintain security

For example, read the logs and block a User by adding an IP Deny entry to the domain. This would supplant the limited anti-hammering rule which is too easily defeated, mainly because there is Only One Rule

  • as another said, i created an account just to vote for this as, after reading through the comments, this is severely needed, especially now that it is 2023.  an FYI, if you use database accounts (e.g. SQL) you can use PowerShell to do direct database "injection" to create and manage many settings: SQLServer\Invoke-Sqlcmd.  its not quite the same as an API but it works for a number of our processes.

  • Agreed, An API to the Serv-U Admin console would be a fantastic idea to assist in our scenario of creating and Maintaining LDAP groups and Directory access rules.

Even somethin lie being able to supply a csv file with the settings or a powershell style module to assist in management tasks and applying consistancy

at this stage the Console work is manual and open to errors, typos

  • it's shame that such product doesn't have yet an API. poor product.

  • We only use AD accounts and being unable to automate the creation of Serv-U entries is a major problem. I have requested this feature several times and have not seen any movement yet. I hope more will vote for this.
