Performance reading fro Free MEM

Question

I'm a little confused with the output of the memory section of the performance.  The heading reads Free Mem KB, which I see as memory that is available, which is a good thing, but some of our server's that have the majority of the memory free are showing red, as if that is a bad thing.  Am I looking at this incorrectly?  Can someone explain this for me?

I believe the status of that graph should be triggered by unusual changes from the average free memory. So, if the server usually has 1GB of free memory and all the sudden it goes to 2GB of free memory, the status should change. Same if it went from 1GB of free memory to 50MB of free memory. Is that occurring?
