LEM Remote installer reports successful installs inaccurately

I've been testing for a couple of weeks and had to completely rebuild my LEM yesterday, and on both the old LEM and the brand new LEM, I ran the Install Remote SolarWinds Log and Event Manager Agent utility from two different computers and tested installing it to various machines, both with and without USB Defender. It consistently says that it installed successfully to a physical Windows 10 computer, but it never shows up in the LEM. It also failed to fully install onto a freshly setup Windows 8.1 VM on a VMWare hypervisor, and it said it successfully installed, and it did populate a c:\windows\syswow64\contegospop folder onto that VM, but it does not show the program in appwiz.cpl and the VM never is detected by the LEM console. For large roll outs to multiple client$, this would be a good feature to improve. I did also disable real-time antivirus and behavior monitoring prior to testing each time.
