LEM newbie questions about upgrade from 6.1 to 6.3.1 HF6

Hi everyone...Solar-n00b here, and I am new to this forum (and to LEM in general).

I've recently joined the team at work, and they've placed me on a task to assist in upgrading their current LEM from 6.1 to 6.3.1 HF6...I'm assisting and not leading, but would like to be as prepared as possible to understand fully what is going to happen so am making some newbie questions here (while I wait for my SW creds to be requested from our Admin)...so with that said, a few questions if anyone can assist me please?

- For this upgrade, is there any known issues with host clients not providing the expected output after a move up to 6.3.1?

- I was checking the sticky on this forum about upgrading to HF6 and I see steps there (below)...is this the same basic steps to move up from 6.1 to 6.3?

LEM V6.3.1 HOTFIX 6 IS NOW AVAILABLE

Any advice on what I should be looking for during this upgrade would be greatly appreciated....thanks much!!!

Thanks for reaching out, a few of things:
Here's our upgrade guide in the Knowledge Base with a lot of the information you're going to want to know: SolarWinds LEM Upgrade Guide - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support
Additionally, each upgrade and hotfix will include Readmes on how to do it.
The Upgrade and Hotfix are pretty similar processes at a high level as you suggest.
You may want to additionally review the Release Notes for each version if you're researching what was fixed, new features or other issues:

From memory most of the new issues had to do with vulnerability fixes or adjustments to features added to the LEM in 6.3.1. There's no significant change in how the logs are handled that I can think of.

JRouviere...I reviewed the links and note the "SolarWinds LEM Upgrade Guide" (which is also downloadable as a PDF)...so knowing I'm a n00b and therefore need to ask a n00b question:
I like the guide, seems pretty straight-forward...so if I/we were to follow that guide as directed, then under normal circumstances there is a high probability of success using the guide alone?

Correct. With LEM the hardest part of the upgrade is getting to the files (no joke). After that, the upgrade is scripted and will run on its own. Standard caveats apply: backups, snapshots, etc. Usually if there's a problem during the upgrade process there was something wrong with the LEM already.
Additionally 6.3.1 has been around for over a year and the HF 6 has been around for two months. If there were major issues they should have been discovered by now.
