how to automatically add the new device into existing customer property

Hi All,

I think this was answered earlier but i m unable to find it.. I keep getting few servers every week for addition and all will be a mix of OS.. so is it possible to have the custom property atuamtically added when i add the device to SolarWinds.

I saw one OOB alert action but when i tried to test it, it did not work.. Appreciate if someone can hep..

I tend to build a lot of rules to automatically assign custom properties. Conditions like IP address starts with 10.1.2. And ( SiteID is null or SiteID = '' ) where the action would be to set the custom…

I tend to build a lot of rules to automatically assign custom properties. Conditions like IP address starts with 10.1.2. And ( SiteID is null or SiteID = '' ) where the action would be to set the custom property SiteID to Datacenter1. Basically any scenario where I know there is some kind of logical rule or standard. Also do rules for parsing our naming conventions, associating specific devices with the correct support team, etc.

I am using the Alert action 'Change custom property' for making such changes. Only thing is you need to create individual actions for each custom property.

i did try using the same but didnt have the new devices added to the existing custom property...does it do instantly or takes time?
