custom template to pull hard drive information

I was looking on solarwinds and could not find a way to pull hard drive information. I opened a case with Solarwinds who stated they had no template to do so but said it might be possible. I was looking to get the serial number and the actual size of the disk ( 2.5 in drive or 3.5 in drive). Anyone know if this would be possible and if there is a custom template already created?

What is the make/model of the device you are trying to monitor? This information is available via SAM's Asset Inventory for Dell, HP, and IBM/Lenovo servers.

The server is question is a DELL 1950 PowerEdge. is that a template that I can just add to the server?

No template is required. You simply need to install the Dell OpenManage agent software onto the server, since Windows does not have this information to expose it via SNMP or any other method without this software installed. Also, for Dell servers, Dell does not expose disk/storage subsystem information via WMI so the node will need to be managed via SNMP for this information to be visible in Orion.

Does that mean that solarwinds cannot display this information, we currently have dell open manage on the servers and can view the data that way, I was just looking for a more central location to access this information.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Provided the Dell OpenManage agent software is installed on your PowerEdge server and the node is managed via SNMP in Orion, this information will be available to you through the Orion web interface when Hardware Health and Asset Inventory is selected via List Resources for that node.

Well if you are using the solarwinds agent you don't see any disk health information.
