Updating Machine types when switching polling methods

I'm sure there's something easy I'm missing, but before I begin deleting polled data by removing nodes, I'd thought I'd ask here. I have a number of servers that we are changing from ICMP to WMI monitoring. One side affect I've noticed is that the machine type stays Unknown of a number of these servers regardless of the rediscovery being done. Is there a way to force SolarWinds to update the machine type to read Windows Server 20xxxx?

An update to this, I noticed within the database, that the servers that have this issue are showing no values for SysUpTime, and Next Rediscovery poll is way in the past. I'm going to try a few things and will repost if I find something, unless someone else has seen it before and knows what to do.

OK so if anyone else runs into this issue, I'm not sure exactly what resolved it, but I did the following:
List Resources
Rediscovery
And Update the Nodes table to set the NextRediscovery to a minute in the future so something like:
Update Nodes Set NextRediscovery = '2014-12-24 08:46:00.000' where ObjectSubType = 'WMI' and MachineType = 'Unknown'

I've had a case where I was not getting a response time for nodes which caused rediscovery polling to be stuck in the past for some reason and performing the list resources and immediately submitting was the resolution.

I also have this kind of issue. Machine type remains unknown even if I've tried the rediscover option on the node (tried this on Solaris boxes and Netscaler devices from ICMP to SNMP monitoring). Any concrete solution on this?

Hi bladegillete‌, try to run the rediscover and Poll Now of the node, and refresh the node page. Or wait for at least 5 minutes and refresh the node page again. I hope this will resolve your issue. Thank you.

I had a similar problem that was resolved by manually setting the next poll / rediscovery interval "manually." This trick, for some weird reason, wouldn't work unless the next discovery was at least 8 minutes out.

Thanks Manilyn Ramos that did the trick however I have a lot of affected nodes. Any other way to resolve this without visiting each nodes? Thanks.

Rediscovery occurs every 30 min. So I would expect these nodes would update their information automatically at most, one hour after changing their polling method.

One thing I observed, Machine type won't be updated unless you checked/added the interfaces and volumes on the List Resources option after changing the polling method. Any comment on this?
