Solarwinds Install Automation

I was looking through the documentation and couldn't find a real answer, is it possible to automate the installation of SAM using an existing database?

We are setting up a Solarwinds instance in AWS and one of our requirements is the ability to rebuild the Solarwinds app server on-demand. We would have a running database in a separate RDS instance so would need to specify use external database in the setup. We are looking for a silent install that could be run without a user having to go through any of the wizard screens.

Are there properties in the install that can specified at the command line when running the install exe?

rcolanero‌ - why don't you raise this as a feature request (silent install)
Well you might get several idea from thwackers, but then it would never be an actual solution that you are looking for.
One workaround I can think of as of now is - use any testing tool or a tool that is capable of recording installation steps (as transactions) - you can use this transaction script as an automation script for your install. But then this would still be environment specific script (DB name and Primary poller name)

There is no officially sanctioned or supported method for automating the installation of any Orion Server based product. The optional Agent and/or QoE Sensors are the only notable exception that comes to mind.
That doesn't however mean that the process of installing and configuring an Orion based product, such as SAM, NPM, IPAM, etc. can't be automated. In fact the PowerShell script attached here is something we just whipped up as a proof of concept. It works well here in our lab without issue, but actual mileage may vary. If nothing else this should give you a good starting point from which to build upon.

Did your feature request produce any fruit? I cannot believe that this subject has not gotten more attention. These posts are pretty old, so I am hoping that the question was answered in another forum. Please let me know if you have gotten any further with this.
