SAMs ability to restart servers that is being monitored

There is no built in function in SAM to reboot servers automatically, there is a button you can click on the node details page to send a reboot command but nothing does it automatically.

The closest option they give is that you can create an alert action to launch a script to reboot a server, but in that case SAM wouldn't really be rebooting anything and it all depends on your scripted methodology.

Alternatively, if you have VMAN you can set an alert action to attempt to reboot a VM via vcenter.  There are a bunch of gotchas around that, such as it only works if the account has those permissions (many people set VMAN to read only permissions), and only works on VM's, and the VMTools has to be installed/working.

I'm assuming you're talking about restarting a node automatically if certain conditions are met. It's not very safe, and I would not recommend doing it, but you could always do this with scripting:

In Powershell (Windows nodes):

Restart-Computer

In Bash (Linux nodes):

reboot

Use carefully. Restarts without proper investigation can lead to outages.
