SAM - Application status is Unknown

Our of curiosity, what version of SAM did you upgrade from? Also, what applications are reporting being in an "unknown" state? Even more helpful would be to know what type of Component Monitors are causing the application to go into an "Unknown" state. How many components are you currently monitoring with SAM and are any of the hosts being monitored across a WAN link?

Sorry for hijacking this thread but I have a question related to the "unknown" status as well.  What EventType ID is assigned to applications that go into an "unknown" state.

It should be in the 500 range I believe but when I look at the table dbo.eventtypes I do not see anything in the 500 range for SAM Unknown.

shack, the eventtype for application is 505 which looks to be SAM Application Down while Component is 507.  While the message will state unknown, it uses the down event type.

I have that also. Recently we upgraded SAM from 5.2 to 6.0 to 6.1.

Today, I added (2) servers to Solarwinds and attached a Windows template and a Citrix template.

Both servers passed the SNMP testing and the WMI testing for the templates and adding them for monitoring. But they are showing unknown as to the application monitors.

What gives this?

Yes, Initial poll in progress. It is very weird.

I've run into that and ended up having to unmanage and remanage the application to clear it up.

Really? Unmanage and manage the nodes?

I tried it, but nothing changed.   Thanks though!

Can you verify that node & application polling for other nodes/application is working properly? E.G. that you have recent historical data for nodes/interfaces/volumes/applications/components etc. that are in a Green/UP status.
