How to reflect child status on parent group?

There is an application that is in alarm, but my parent group is not reflecting the status. I've read a little on the forums that groups don't reflect the status of an application, but the posts seemed a little older. Any idea what the issue could be? I have confirmed that I have set "Show worst status" set on the groups.

Groups do not support Child Status. You will need to add the applications associated to those nodes as part of the group. Then the application status will be properly reflected in the group's rollup status.
