How to monitor GPFS partition mounted on Unix / Linux?

We have several monitored Linux servers that mount a remote GPFS filesystem. The server owner wants to monitor the mount point (not the GPFS filesystem in the IBM cluster) so we know if the remote filesystem gets unmounted or otherwise inaccessible. As far as I can tell, the GPFS mount point / filesystem isn't exposed via SNMP. It doesn't show up under "List Resources" and it doesn't show up if I run snmpwalk on the node. Is anyone here monitoring a remote GPFS filesystem mounted on a Linux or Unix server? How did you do it?
