How external IP can be monitored from outside?

Question

For example, If I need to make external web-availability checks, I will deploy WPM player on my azure or aws server.

But what if I want to perform some SAM checks? Like TCP port availability. But from the "outside". What Solarwinds can offer me? (For example, real case is to check vpn port availability of external IP from the outside. Inside availability is useless metric for this service)

To have SAM poll externally you would likely want to stand up an additional polling engine in the cloud and build some routing rules where it knows to send external traffic out one interface and communicate with your orion instance through another.

On the other hand a much cheaper and simpler to manage option that is still SW, but not Orion is just to use Pingdom. You could also use the SAM API poller to display pingdom data inside Orion
