Higher SQL server cpu usage post 4.0 - 5.0 upgrade

Hi,

Since upgrading to SAM 5.0 our CPU usage on the SQL server has jumped noticeably from what it was before. Is there any reason for this or is it just something we're going to have to live with?

  • There is some additional overhead associated with the hardware monitoring included in SAM 5.0, and some fixes made to maintenance that were previously preventing it from completing successfully for some customers under certain circumstances. We also improved the performance and reliability of polling for certain component monitor types that may have previously been bottle necked. All of these reasons might explain an incremental increase in the SQL servers CPU usage, but your CPU utilization increase is beyond anything I've personally seen before. It may be worth gathering some diagnostics from your server and opening a ticket with support so we can take a closer look at what's going on.
