Hardware Health Monitoring on HP Server with Windows 2012

Today, I have run into an issue with Hardware Heath Monitoring on an HP ProLiant server running Windows Server 2012. I've done this successfully on many other HP servers running Windows Server 2008. I installed SNMP first, then installed HP SIM 7.2.2, like I have installed on my other HP servers. When I added the server as a node and selected 'List Resources', Hardware Sensors do not show up. An SNMPWalk does not locate the MIB's as described in the Ttroubleshooting section of the guide.

So as a precaution, I uninstalled HP SIM and reinstalled it. Still nothing. Am I missing something? The HP Insight Management WBEM Proividers do not install at all because I cannot find a version compatible with Windows Server 2012, so I am forced to use SNMP which is not working. Please assist me in getting this ironed out.

You should download and install the latest version of HP's SIM and WMI Providers for Windows 2012 at the link below. v10 is recommended for Windows 2012 and 2012 R2.

Hi Alterego,
Do we have to use SNMP as the polling method if we want to pull in the HP SIM hardware health monitoring? Since SNMP was not included in the Win 2012 r2 build and SNMP v2 has some security concerns we moved to WMI polling for all Win servers. I have found that 90% of the servers are now not providing HW monitoring as an option when we list resources. A few are which has me baffled. I was thinking maybe it was the version of our SIM agents or some config possibly? Any ideas? Should I be able to see SIM HW info even when polling with WMI if the SIM agents are up to date? I believe ours are quite old but the few that I can see HW info on are version 10 or better.

Hardware Health is available for HP nodes managed via WMI, though you will need to install the WBEM providers referenced above.
