File Age Alerts when there are no files

According to the documentation for the File Age component monitor, the monitor requires a file path (not a directory path). Have you tried using the monitor with a specific file name whose age you want to check?

The files are email which constantly stream(new file name everytime) through this folder structure. I don't want any of them to be there very long. Is there a monitor that truly looks for file age?

One possible solution is to use the Windows Script Monitor to monitor the file age.

Create a vbscript that examines the directory and checks the ages of the files. When you find a file whose age is > 1 day, set the statistic to 2 to indicate warning. When you find a file whose age is > 2 days, set the statistic to 3 to indicate a critical.

I am not a developer or programmer so creating or modifying a script is beyond me. Any other solutions available?

I've opened a customer feature request for implementing an option to set preferred final state of file age monitor when there are no files in the folder.

However, so far there is no such an option in and I'm afraid the script is the only way to go for now.
