AppInsight for SQL alerting

When you edit the application by clicking the "Edit Application Monitor" link in the top right of the SQL server application you are viewing, you can define the threshold for "Deadlocks/sec". When that threshold is exceeded, the default out-of-the-box "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" alert.

One more question on this -

When you change the threshold in Edit Application Monitor does it only change it for that device or does it change it for all devices using Appinsight for SQL?

Changing it where I described above will change the threshold only for this particular instance. Modifying this value from within the template itself will change this value for all instances of SQL. You can modify the template by going to [Settings -> SAM Settings -> Manage Templates] as seen below.

how to alert on specific SQL Error ?, there seems not to be easily configurable to alert either on error parsing or error level.

I will need to defer to jvb​, as I am no longer the Product Manager for SAM. You may need to create a Custom SWQL Alert for information displayed in that resource.

that would be nice. AppInsight is appreciated for the detailed information however we feel it is to strict for the configuration and the alerting.

Displaying the Error log is good, be able to alert on some error is better

did anyone able answer this question ? having same dilemma, SQL guy wants to monitors SQL Server Event logs.
