AppInsight for IIS

Hi,

im looking for some guidance in regards to adding AppInsight for IIS onto Web servers. I can see you can configure using credentials inherited from the NODE, or by using a dedicate account for this purpose. What are the differences and advantages between inherited credentials from NODE or using a dedicate account?

Please could I get your recommendations and pros and cons between the 2 options.

Thanks in Advance

Alan

  • I don't see any advantage to separating the two layers. However if the server is in the DMZ I would use a different account for both Node/App monitors than the rest of your environment (or use the Agent). That way if your DMZ server is compromised your internal WMI cred wont be.
