Virtualization Manager - What we are working on.

Product Manager

We are currently working on Virtualization Manager 5.1 and beyond.  Some of the items we hope to deliver:

  •   Expanded support for Hyper-V, including support for Hyper-V v3
  •   Support for VMware 5.1
  •   Enhanced support for VDI infrastructures
  •   Simplified configuration for Hyper-V

PLEASE NOTE: We are working on these items based on this priority order, but this is NOT a commitment that all of these enhancements will make the next release.  We are working on a number of other smaller features in parallel.   If you have comments or questions on any of these items (e.g. how would it work?) or would like to be included in a preview demo, please let us know!

If you don't see what you are looking for here, you can always add your idea(s) and vote on features in our forum.

I am one of your recent customers and have been using Virtualization Manager for couple of months now. As per the design, Virtualization Manager fetches information about utilization of VM's from VCenter and displays it in GUI format. We recently found that the utilization which we see for VM's in Virtualization Manager is not at all same as that of the actual resource utilization (RAM & CPU) of the VM's. We could see a deviation of more than 50% in real utilization and the one which was being dispalyed in Virtualization Manager. I had a talk with your tech support team on this but i haven't got any solution to this issue yet. Can you help in getting this issue resolved? I believe this should be the top most priority before the new features are being planned to be added to this product. Thank you and i hope to hear from you soon.

I see that the Showback dashboard can show us a widget such like "VM CPU Utilization VMware folder."

But since the "folder" feature is specific to VMware, such the widgets are useless for Hyper-V.

Does the "Expanded support for Hyper-V" enable the Showback dashboard supporting Hyper-V guests ?

It is also true for the "Chargeback" On-Demand Report. The Chargeback report require the 'Field to summarize by", for example, the folder in VMware.

Hello, Is there any further update on what might be included in version 5.1?

Does VM v5.1 support VMware 5.1 since it is already released?

Ok, so I have been a geek for a long time, went to UT finally ended up at a startup, Tek-Tools where we built a monitoring and reporting product for Servers, Backups, Storage and Applications. In Jan 2010, Solarwinds bought Tek-Tools, and I was added to the PM team. When my mind actually wonders from making our products better, I am generally spending time with my family, reading, watching sports, arguing politics or tinkering with stuff (it can always be made better), with the occasional camping trip thrown in for good measure.
