Java Updates - ability to uninstall previous versions

Java Updates - ability to uninstall previous versions

Since the release of the Java 8u20 installer Java has been able to uninstall previous versions during the install process, which is not currently supported by SolarWind

I would like to propose that the Java updates include a function to uninstall any previous versions in the line (such that the x64 installer would uninstall previous x64 versions but leave x86 versions alone, and vice versa).

This would help to avoid numerous conflicts which can crop up when multiple versions are installed.

Oracle can manage it when its installed via the website.  It makes sense to by DEFAULT uninstall any old java versions and if people need to keep certain computers not getting updated they can create a target group that does not get java updates approved.

Every time there is a java update I go in and edit the package, put in the MSI product code for the previous version to uninstall in the packageboot file and then publish it.  That has to be done for all 3 versions of the update, 86, 64, and 86 for 64.  It wouldnt be so bad but for some reason oracle likes to make little changes or something and then solarwinds has to reissue the update which forces me to go and do it all over again.  Ive seen as many as 5 changed versions of java in 2 days.  It needs to stop.

As of Java 8u151, uninstall rules are included with the Java Runtime Environment upgrade packages. You can view the steps to uninstall previous versions here.
