Java Inventory via SPM

Anyone here have used SPM or WSUS to inventory all machines and see what Java version is installed on the client machines? Appreciate your help.

  • Sure, plenty of times.

If you want to check the machines directly (in case someone installed it on their own) you'll want to be sure that you have a Managed Computers Inventory task set up so that you can collect the data to report on:

    Generate a managed systems inventory

From there if you go to Administration and Reporting -> Reporting -> Configuration Management Reports there's a section that should relate to installed software similar to Programs and Features.

Then you should be able to duplicate/edit the canned report and edit it to filter down to only Java installs.

    Customize an existing report
