Recently we have been trying to evaluate Solarwinds NTA to get feed of BGP ASN from our Border Routers which are running full BGP tables. We tried hardware from different vendors - Mikrotik & Huawei.
Regarding 1st test case was Mikrotik CCR 1072. It supported Netflow v9 but didn't support BGP ASN Export in the flow. When enquired, found the same listed in their Wiki too - Manual:IP/Traffic Flow - MikroTik Wiki . Thus no Mikrotik Device can export BGP ASN in Flow - Confirmed!
Regarding 2nd test case, the device was Huawei 6720 EI Layer 3 Switch. We used sFlow in Huawei. But unfortunately BGP ASN Export is not supported in sFlow by Huawei (Licensing Requirements and Limitations for NetStream ) neither did NTA supported export of BGP ASN information from sFlow as said in the documentation - Monitor Border Gateway Protocol and Autonomous Systems with NTA - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support
We contacted Huawei TAC for the same issue. Netstream was another solution but the switch model did not support it as only HI editions are supported.
Thus Mikroitk & Huawei failed to export BGP ASN to NTA. Other than Top XX Autonomous System Report, you will get all other reports in NTA for both the devices.
I would like to ask Solarwinds team, to create a page listing the supported devices so that it becomes easy to evaluate the purchase and requirements and also suggest any workaround (if any).
