The alert manager tool appears to have only been set up to target a volume or interface or node. This simply does not fit for the large number of products that NPM and the entire suite integrates with.
What about for example:
Application monitors (SAM)?
Web transaction monitors (WPM)?
There is no way to directly trigger these monitors to go off tied to specific objects or values because it is only tied back to nodes/volumes/interfaces.
Please update the alert manager application to enable testing for any particular $object that matches the things that an installed solarwinds tool integrates with.
That aside, it would also be nice to manage alerts from the web front-end so that permissions can be assigned as well.
