Perfstack - only 7 characters of meaningful interface descriptions

Some devices (interfaces) have very long internal names -- like "TenGigabitEthernet1/6" -- and that leaves only 7 more characters to be displayed of the description -- like we see "L2 - as...."   and that's it.   The full description is "L2 - asx-xxx-xxx (te0/0/5) via XXX xxxxxxxx 25.xxxx.xxxx..xxxx"

So, while ~I~ may be intimately familiar with what port 1/6 is on device xxx -- management, and even other engineers, may not be familiar (especially when sharing to a non-network team member)

It would be helpful if we could chose to display as "shortname" for the interface (it's in Orion as "Te1/6") -- that would gain back 15 or so characters (eg, Te1/6 vs. TenGigabitEthernet1/6)

Alternatively, at least, if one was to hover the mouse somehow and see the FULL description -- that'd be at least a tactical help.

  • For those who use PerfStack charts, this is a totally underrated feature request. Not having these descriptions makes this feature virtually useless. Unless you know the individual ports of each one of your devices, you have no way of viewing the description.
