Orion Maps - ICON Status

Understood MAP ICON Status can be linked to Events through child status participation (interface up/down etc), but I would like to be able to link specific System Messages (SYSLOG) events so that the ICON status changes based on the criticallity of the SYSLOG event ie:  a Critical message is received warning us of CRC errors across the Fabric of a Juniper Device - this then creates an Event reflected in the Node ICON Status.

  • Yeh, i see your point.  So the SYSLOG to Node Status correlation would need to be in place before the MAP ICON could reflect that state.  My understanding is that events cannot be created from a SYSLOG - events are the result of polling (change of state) whereas the SYSLOG table is based on realtime updates.  Ignoring events for the time being however, mapping node status to syslog events (filterable) would be cool (in effect your node-status is reflective of realtime and not pending the next poll).

  •  I think I understand the intent but would like to try and clarify -

So it sounds like you want specific syslog messages to contribute to interface/node status correct? And certain messages could cause the node to go into warning and certain messages could cause the node to go critical? Of course this would then trigger the map to update as well, whether that is just a status change in general, or the icon actually changes based on a particular status (warning or critical, etc...).

Wanting to validate as I am not sure this is a Map specific request in this case. Thanks for the request!
