Netflow alert - Link Saturation Case Number: 00098819

It is necessary to create a Netflow alert that at the moment a link perceives saturation and it will generate a report of the protocols and conversations that are affecting the use of the link.

I would like to know the timelines if possible to create alerts on specific types of network traffic such as DNS, UDP, NTP, etc., if it exceeds a specific traffic threshold, generate the protocols and conversations in this alert.

We are looking at the configuration of the Top Talkers alerts but I think they are not enough and we have not been able to configure it in the best way:

  • This is the use case that the NTA Top Talkers alerts was designed for.  Can you talk a little more about the shortcomings you see with this alert, and the behavior you would prefer?

We have new application flow volume based alerting for high or low volumes. Also, alerting for presence / absence from the TopN, and an alert for loss of flow data from a node.

Head over to the NTA Release Candidate forum, and check out the details here: NetFlow Traffic Analyzer Release Candidate

Let us know in that forum what you think, and how you're using this feature to alert on flow traffic in your network!
