Monitor multiple devices at the same IP address

I would like to have the ability to add multiple devices for monitoring that all use the same IP address. Example: we have multiple virtual CheckPoint firewalls that we would like to monitor in SolarWinds. Each virtual firewall is managed via the same IP address but SNMP polling would be based on context. It sounds like the only way to do this is to use a different polling engine for each context. The issue is we have over 40 virtual firewalls/contexts on some of these devices so having 40+ polling engines to accomplish this is not realistic. We need some way to monitor each one at the same IP but different context and different node name/caption.

  • BUMPing this - this is absolutely critical to future** based monitoring requirements as everything heads more and more virtual.

** to be honest, it's critical now and was when this request was first put in - please SolarWinds - don't just consider this, actually implement it.

  • Yes, I have the same requirement with Checkpoint VSX/VS. Spent the last few days going round the houses with no joy. Context element does not appear to work.

  • I agree with this request and am in the same boat.  We are monitoring many devices that do not talk SNMP.  Therefore, we have developed an SNMP Agent to poll these devices using their exposed API and report metrics back to NPM via SNMPv3.  We would like to see each device show up as a node in NPM, but as mentioned in the feature request this is not possible because IP address seems to be the primary key for a node and any attempt to discover another device under the same SNMP Agent, but a different context name, indicates that the IP address is already being polled.

If the Engine ID and Context Name could be added to the primary key of the node (could have default values if not utilized) so that we could use a single SNMP Agent to poll multiple devices and report metrics back to NPM as independent nodes, it would be a significant help.
