Custom CLI pollers

Hi,

As it was done for Cisco ASA and Nexus bz SOlarwinds, it would be nice offer the possibility to create custom CLI poller so we can gather similar information on other vendors devices:

- Fortigate firewalls;

- Alcatel switches;

- Baracuda firewalls;

- PaloAlto

For example.....

Thanks all

    I agree. I use Cisco ASA's in cluster mode as well as Active/Passive failover. Currently, Solarwinds cannot detect the HA mode when they're clustered. "Show failover" of course shows HA as disabled in a cluster - it needs to use "show cluster info" instead, and then parse that output (there are a few other cluster-related show commands as well that would be useful). Definitely needed.

  • +1 to that we need a framework to restructure the data ..then use the company customers base to do the rest..

  • Great idea for putting the returned stuff on dashboards / views .... truly with NCM script management automation we are able to do this but txt files stored somewhere.

  • It was discussed at a recent SolarWinds event that as the Routing data collected from devices can be very large and that SNMP is just not able to collect this amount of data efficiently, it is an absolute requirement to collect this via a CLI command. Changing to this method and extending to allow additional custom data to be collected makes sense.

    FYI, if you have NCM, then you have the ability to do this already, but this method does not allow you to structure the returned data to then use in a monitoring manner. But at least it does allow you to capture the information and identify if it changes.

    1. Go to NCM Settings > Config Types
    2. Add a new entry that will be the suffix to 'Show' e.g. add 'Int brief'
    3. You can then create an NCM Job or go to Configuration Management and do a download of this Show command
  • It would be nice to be able to create those on our own as well just like with device templates in NCM
