Everytime I change anything in my Alert, which has a 'Type of Property to Monitor' of 'Custom SQL Alert', I get the message box similar to this:
Edit Alert Definition |
---|
You have changed the trigger conditions for this alert. This will clear out any triggered alerts for this alert definition. Do you wish to continue? Yes No |
'No' causes the change not to be saved and 'Yes' clears all the triggered alerts. Since I didn't actually change the trigger (and I assume it's too difficult to code), can you add another option to 'Save without clearing' to save the definition, but not clear the triggered alerts.
I don't feel this change should be an integrity issue. Because even if the trigger was changed, eventually the reset condition will be recheck, which should remove any that no longer meet the new criteria.
Now, if I make a minor change & there are several alerts already triggered, it clears them and everyone gets re-emailed on alerts they have already seen. Plus, the triggered date/time gets reset (which is somwhat misleading).
Thank you!!
