Working with a client who is working with new servers that do not and will not support SNMP. The only way to have data collection on these server currently is script monitors in SAM, however, all the same information could be gathered using IPMI. The client has found that the servers coming in are moving away from SNMP and moving toward IPMI. Would like to see the ability to have SolarWinds to use IPMI to monitor servers where SNMP is not supported but data can be gathered via IPMI. The servers the client is currently dealing with are Linux, and feels that this level of native support would allow for much easier monitoring of these devices rather than having to tailor scripts for monitoring basic information.
