What We're Working on for NPM (Updated August 10, 2020)

The latest release of Network Performance Monitor (NPM) is available on and in your customer portal. We hope you're enjoying the features of our current NPM 2020.2 release! 2020.2 delivered Microsoft Azure cloud monitoring, usability improvements for MIBs database management, Device View improvements, and a host of performance boosts.

With another successful release under our belt, it's time to start working on new features for the next release. Here are just a few items we have in the works for you:

  • SD-WAN vEdge Visibility - native device support for the most popular SD-WAN vendors.
  • Intelligent Mapping - improved automation of topology discovery to power Orion Maps.
  • Orion Maps - Feature enhancements & performance improvements.
  • Improved Interface Status - applied enhanced node status to interfaces.

Learn more about the Orion Platform improvements here: The Orion Platform.

You ask, we listen. Many of the top features developed for NPM are generated through your participation in user sessions and your votes in the Feature Requests forum. Thank you for your valuable feedback.

Melvin - Have you checked out this feature request? Probably worth throwing in a vote/comment.

I've been watching these two pretty closely, which you might also be interested in:

This should definitely be part of What we are working On

It should have ability to build PIE charts on all available metrics in SolarWinds Orion (same like we can pull almost all metrics for Node and its child objects and other Orion Objects in PerfStack dashboards)

Please add a roadmap for SDN - Vmware NSX-T monitoring.

I would be fine with any API additions as long as its added into NPM.   I don't think customers would appreciate needed to buy another module for this

Individual device polling would be a plus but I'd be happy just to get orchestrator properly monitored.   From Orch, a lot of date points are already there and SWINDS can then pull that data into existing alerts and add them into a full topology integration with the other devices monitored within a facility.

I can't imagine Solarwinds not adding the level of support that the company has done with Meraki Wireless, F5, Cisco ACI & Palo alto API's.

Heck.....Solarwinds is a customer of Silver Peak

SolarWinds improves VoIP quality and productivity with Silver Peak

Noted. Thanks for the feedback!

And support for Stack monitoring!  2930m

Huawei WLAN controller support in the pipeline!???

any chance to have a robust maintenance mechanism in a futur release ?

@MathieuJM, the latest maintenance comment I've seen from @jason.carrier is this comment. I was under the impression based on this other comment that this might have been listed on this roadmap already.

You are right simply @jason.carrier was not sure they will work on it soon... still a complaint from our management

Is there an ETA for the next big version with these features/improvements impemented?

It miss some critical functionally

  • How is it possible to create broken line?
  • How is it possible to display only “% bandwidth usage”? (Like Network Atlas)

Will this :Orion Remote Collector - Lightweight, agent-based polling solution. be a completely new agent that will replace the current agent?

I´m asking because we are currently having a problem with some of our agents (SAM though) consuming 100% cpu on some of our nodes.

Can you share how the PM team got to the conclusion that SD-WAN

is “so big” that’s anything else is less important?

How the PM team came to support Viptela V-edge First and not any other in that list?

That will be funny to know why...

Solarwinds says 'Atlas Maps will be deprecated'.

When drawing lines between objects in 'Orion Map', only objects that have an interface can draw lines.

'Atlas Maps' supports drawing lines regardless of object conditions.

And, another request.

The relationship between the instance monitored by DPA and the node that is actually running is not displayed in the Orion Map.

There is also no way to manually draw a line between the two.

Looking at these things, it seems difficult to completely exclude the 'Atlas Maps' function.

Of course, Orion Map presents a lot of possibilities and features.

Please include Meraki in the SD-WAN products....
