historical up-down status of an interface

I cannot for the life of me figure out a way to build a report that shows the status of an interface over time to see when it went up and down. I tried historical interface errors and just changed the field to status. it goes blank when I put in a date field. I everything else seems to be historical about volume or node, but not an interface.

anyone have any ideas they can confirm in report builder?

I usually go to Events
Event Type, select Interface down, then select the date range
You would need to run twice, once for up, then for down

thanks. that seems to work. however it must be that this nic has never been up since it returns no results for it but does for other devices. the part that's confusing is that this is a linux machine, and it lists the loopback adapter as UP and the eth0 as down. but the server is pingable.
